This is a castle I visited on the Austrian - Czech border. I have done some colour grading and digital fiddling to enhance the composition, but it's pretty close to reality.

Don't you just love the ancient ruins of the old world? When I visited Germany & Austria, the age of the place simply oozed out of the rocks, bricks, and mortar. Great photograph!

Wow! We do not have anything like that here!
Well...we have some Native American mounds and cave dwellings...but nothing like this.

No, I know nothing about the castle except that I walked through the area and stopped to look. I think it is normally open for visitors but was shut on the day I was there. It sure made for a good subject to photograph though!
