Stormbringers by postapocalypsia Stormbringers by postapocalypsia
This is something from my archive, painted when I was thinking about how our media saturated society often deifies youth, beauty and instant gratification at the expense of respect for maturity and experience. The painting is a whimsical look at some shaman/elder guys doing their stuff out in the desert. I'm not quite sure what it is they are doing, but it's sincere and it's working!

Thank you - there's a bit of philosophy behind this one, and the empty space figures prominently as a result.

Brilliant! I love the earnestness of their poses, beautifully painted, and the entire concept's a gem. :D The only thing that's throwing me when I look at the painting is the perspective between the old car and the horizon; something about it seems off, for some reason, and it draws the eye away from your delightful figures...

Thanks for your comments:) It can be tricky trying to place things in perspective at times. I can't quite see how I could change it at this point, but I do appreciate the critique because it makes me see my work from a different perspective. I shall have a good long look...

Deep. I agree with the message. Everything is required to be delivered in pre-packaged format. Even the arts are not immune. Look at some of the 'singers' today...

Anywhoo, great use of purples here. The little shaman guys's dances are so entertaining. :XD:

Glad you like it! I don't want to rabbit on about philosophy, but it is a shame that the older we get, the less relevant we seem to become - quite the opposite of indigenous cultures.
